Reece Waldock has been appointed as the new Chairperson at Lifeline WA, after two years as deputy.

Waldock, who has been on the board since 2014, brings to the position more than thirty-five years’ experience in strategic management with particular expertise in organisational reform.

He is currently chair of the Planning and Transport Research Centre (Patrec), a director on Infrastructure Australia and a commissioner on the National Transport Commission (NTC).

Previously he has held a unique leadership position with the WA public sector, as Department of Transport director-general, commissioner for Main Roads and the chief executive of the Public Transport Authority.

His appointment comes after the resignation of Chairperson Mark Hector, who has been on the Lifeline WA board for four years, and Chairperson for two of those years.

“Mark was committed to Lifeline WA’s vision and a very successful Chair who led Lifeline WA through a period of significant change, driving focus on the long term sustainability of the organisation,” said Mr Waldock.

“I am proud to be the Chairperson of Lifeline WA and committed to ensuring Lifeline WA continues to deliver on best practice in suicide intervention and prevention in Western Australia.”

Lifeline WA Chief Executive Officer Lorna MacGregor is confident Reece Waldock will continue to build on the important work Mark has done as Chairperson of Lifeline WA.

“Both Mark and Reece have done so much for Lifeline WA and suicide intervention and prevention in Western Australia over the last few years,” she said.

“I look forward to continuing to work towards creating communities free of suicide with Reece in his new position as Chair of Lifeline WA.”
