Dr Simon Towler is a distinguished medical and health system leader with more than three decades of experience spanning clinical care, policy and governance in Western Australia. As a former Western Australian Chief Medical Officer and President of the AMA (WA), he has held senior leadership roles across WA Health, including within the Clinical Excellence Division, and served as State Medical Director at DonateLifeWA.
Throughout his career, Dr Towler has developed deep expertise in health governance, ethical decision-making and system-wide reform. He has led significant work in end-of-life care, palliative care and voluntary assisted dying, and contributed to landmark initiatives including the Sustainable Health Review and the Ministerial Expert Panel on Voluntary Assisted Dying.
