What happens when I contact Lifeline?
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, unsafe, or just need someone to talk to, we’re here to listen. You can reach out through our 13 11 14 crisis support line, by text, or via online chat.
Our trained volunteers listen without judgment and provide a safe, confidential space to talk about what’s going on. You don’t need to share your name, location, or any personal details. Together, we’ll explore options and strategies to help you stay safe. Above all, we’re here to offer a supportive space where you can talk through your feelings, be reminded of your value, and feel less alone as you take steps toward hope and relief.

Frequently asked questions
What happens when I reach out?
Whether you call 13 11 14, send a text, or start an online chat, you’ll be connected to the first available Crisis Supporter, no matter where you’re located. All contact is confidential, and you don’t have to share your name or personal details. Our trained volunteers will listen and, if needed, help you explore options and make a safety plan.
Is this service really free?
Yes, all Lifeline WA crisis services are completely free. Calls from landlines are charged at the cost of a local call, and mobile charges may vary. Texts and online chat are free from standard devices with internet or messaging access.
What if I can’t get through?
Sometimes demand is high. Please stay on the line, keep your message queued, or try our chat or text options. Your contact is important, and the next available Crisis Supporter will respond as soon as possible.
Can I talk to the same person again?
It’s unlikely, as calls, texts, and chats are routed to the next available supporter. However, all our volunteers receive the same rigorous training and supervision, so you’ll always receive compassionate, consistent support.
Is it confidential?
Yes. All our services are confidential, and you don’t need to share personal details unless you choose to. The only exceptions are situations involving imminent risk or legal obligations, and we’ll always let you know if this applies.
