Always here. Always listening.

From a late‑night radio program in 1986 to supporting more than 163,000 people in a single year, Lifeline WA has grown alongside the community it serves.

40 years of crisis support in WA doesn’t happen by chance – it happens because of community. Donors, partners, and philanthropists who gave what they could. Fundraisers who held morning teas, crossed finish lines, and took on unthinkable challenges. Families who shared a phone number with a friend – just in case. Volunteers who gave up time with loved ones to support a stranger. Every single one of them has played a meaningful role in ensuring Lifeline WA can continue being there for West Australians in their toughest moments.

The young woman I spoke with was amazing. Her gentle empathy and careful listening made me feel heard and understood. She reflected my feelings with such care, and I felt so much lighter after our conversation.

Please pass along my sincere gratitude to the woman who saved my life. I want her to know that I am safe and healthy again, and I wouldn't be here today without her intervention and kindness. My family, husband and I are so grateful that I am here and healthy today. She gave me another chance to have a future.

I spoke with a team member on Lifeline web chat tonight who was very kind, amazing at holding space, encouraging and validating. They didn't offer advice, that was the most powerful thing, they listened, they asked questions, they cared. By the end of the convo my distress went down to a 1/10.

I was in dire straits when I called and spoke to a young man. He listened to me, and he understood me. He tried to help me out. He helped me to feel a person again. I am so grateful that I could get some of the pain out of my system just by talking.
