2026 Black Diamond Gala Dinner Raises Vital Funds for Lifeline WA
It was an evening full of elegance, purpose and the kind of warmth that only comes from a room full of people who truly believe in something bigger than themselves. On Saturday 16 May, 320 guests came together for the Lifeline WA Black Diamond Gala Dinner.
This year’s Gala raised an incredible $557,000 to support Lifeline WA’s 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention services for Western Australians in need. But beyond the numbers, this night carried a meaning that ran deeper than any figure could capture – the launch of Lifeline WA’s 40th Anniversary.
40 years of showing up
What began as a small, dedicated team of volunteers answering calls on what was then known as Nightline has grown into one of WA’s most trusted mental health and crisis support organisations.
To mark this extraordinary milestone, we were honoured to welcome Graham Mabury OAM, the founder of Lifeline WA, to the stage on Saturday night. Graham spoke with warmth, humility and quiet power about those early beginnings – the uncertainty, the belief, and the profound conviction that a single conversation could change the course of a life.
From a backyard dream to WA’s most beloved philanthropic evening
The Black Diamond Gala Dinner has a story as special as the jewellery that bears its name. What began as an idea shared between friends has become a cornerstone of Western Australia’s philanthropic calendar – and at its heart, year after year, is the extraordinary generosity of Rohan and Toni Milne of Rohan Jewellers.
This year, Rohan Jewellers once again created a breathtaking bespoke piece to celebrate the occasion: a stunning pendant handcrafted in 18ct white gold, set with 40 black and white diamonds – one for every year of Lifeline WA.
A night of elegance, story and extraordinary generosity
The evening was brought to life through the vision and support of our incredible event partners – Known Associates, who orchestrated the event with creativity and care; Quality Press, who generously provided all event printing; and AVPartners, whose $13,000 in-kind contribution of world-class screens, lighting and sound transformed the room into something truly spectacular.
Our keynote speaker, Saroo Brierley, held the room spellbound. Separated from his family in India at just five years old, Saroo survived on the streets of Calcutta before being adopted by a Tasmanian family – and spent years using Google Earth to trace his way back to his mother after 25 years apart.
The excitement of the evening continued through a live auction, a silent auction, the much-loved mystery wall, and a Black Diamond pendant raffle featuring the magnificent Rohan Jewellers diamond necklace.

Thank you to every single person who made this night possible
The Black Diamond Gala Dinner exists because of people who choose to show up. And this year, 320 guests did exactly that.
To our Presenting Partner, Mineral Resources – your six-year partnership with Lifeline WA is a testament to what it looks like when an organisation puts genuine care for people at the centre of everything it does. Your support has helped us train 300 volunteer Digital Crisis Supporters, and the impact of that investment is felt every single day.
To Rohan and Toni Milne (Rohan Jewellers) – thank you for sustaining this event with such love, and for once again donating a piece of jewellery that stole every heart in the room.
To our sponsors, partners, volunteers and guests – you are the reason Lifeline WA can continue to be here.
As we step into our 40th year, we carry with us the legacy of Graham Mabury’s founding vision, the commitment of thousands of volunteers and supporters who have walked this journey with us, and the quiet, powerful knowledge that the work we do matters.
From all of us at Lifeline WA – thank you.
