Course Description:

For frontline workers and volunteers providing service and support to people who may be experiencing family and domestic violence (FDV). The course covers the signs, nature, patterns and impacts of FDV, what to consider for diverse groups, communication skills, safety planning, and referral pathways. DV-alert Foundations is delivered Australia-wide as part of the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children. 

Objectives 
  • Identify and respond to the needs of clients who may be experiencing family and domestic violence. 
  • Respond appropriately.  
  • Refer clients to appropriate services and support. 
Who will benefit from this training? 
  • Adults (aged 18 and older) who work or volunteer providing direct service and support to the community, such as in the health, allied health, education, and community services sectors. 
How to attend 
  • For individuals, check your eligibility here and view upcoming workshops here to enrol. There is no cost to attend for eligible participants. 
  • For eligible organisations who have 15 participants or more to attend a workshop together, funding may be available. Please contact us to discuss.

Further training 

Foundations can be a standalone training or the start of the Assessment Pathway. On completion of each component and assessment in the pathway, participants are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency CHCDFV001 Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence.
