Course Description:

In industries such as financial services, utilities and more, staff assist clients and customers who may be experiencing family and domestic violence (FDV). This workshop is designed for people who are not community frontline workers or specialist FDV workers, but who encounter customers who may be experiencing financial abuse and other forms of FDV.

In this session, participants learn about the nature of FDV, potential signs, and trauma-informed and safety-focused ways to respond within the scope of their role. 

Objectives 
  • Define what family and domestic violence is.
  • Describe different types of abuse and what coercive control is.
  • Recognise common community attitudes and their impact on victim-survivors of FDV.
  • Identify subtle signs that the client may be experiencing FDV.
  • Demonstrate effective responding to people who may be affected by FDV using the Look Out, Listen, Link Up framework.

  • Staff providing services to clients/customers who may experiencing FDV.
Pre-requisite training
  • Participants must have attended the Accidental Counsellor workshop in the past 2 years.
